To quote the wise Jay-Z with regards to professionalism:
ReplyDelete"I'm not a businessman, I'm a business, man!"
I'm not sure what that really has to do with this show - but I bet we can figure out a way to draw inspiration from it.
I don't understand what people's names with punctuation on them mean. Could you explain, Mr. Moore? For example, "Lena!" on this post and "Sadat?!?" on another...
Thanks.
"Sigh" I'm tired after that, it was hard work, but I've just opened my Tonic Water now and I feel satisfied. It was well worth it. I think coming together will solve many quircks in the play. I agree that we need to be more proffessional and the best way is not to fidget with pencils and other objects. Thought the pills and the love song were great.
ReplyDeleteAs to the blocking, sounds fine, but why are you telling me, I'm an actor?
Also, James is right, what do things like "Lena!" mean?
From Charles
Umm yea what does Lena! mean? lol
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of questions: Can we use one of the cheerleader uniforms from stargirl and how much can we do to it?
Things are moving along swimmingly...Started to tackle CTC full on and the flag as well as the prom queen CTC sash are done, I'm now working on getting emma's, leah's, jake's, and everyone else's stuff done...
MAKEUP IS IN THE BUILDING!!!! WHOOWEE! it smells like piƱa coladas according to tom provine...i find it smells more like coconuts and bahaman beach
Design for the shirt has been decided on i just need to figure out how to scan Zander's pic into a laptop because i have charles's pic already in digital form but I'll bug a technical maintenance person/ Mr. Bentley.
anyone who wants a shirt should have their money in tomorrow (ie everyone)
I figured out how to give Jake the fake arm but the moment of "falling off" would have to be reconsidered slightly...we'll talk James no worries
I'll be recording the song friday after school with Dr. Dolan so that will be done end of this week.
What i saw of rehearsal looks FREAKING FANTASTIC...I"M SUPER DUPER EXCITED!!!
Lena - I wouldn't worry about 'doing anything' to the cheerleader costume - I really think that could be a normal costume with Gianna in crazy make-up, as long as we get her arms and legs too. I don't know, but I don't think it needs to be manipulated that much. I guess if you wanted we could make a kind of 'zombie shawl'. It's hard to explain what I see in my head, but I can talk to you about it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteUnless, of course, people are cool with you destroying one of the cheerleader costumes, in which case, go for it?
Justin Veno requested I post this idea on the blog. I love it, as I think it really adds to the character of Mr. Sail and will create a great dynamic in the office.
ReplyDeleteBasically, he wants everyone from the cast to bring in a framed baby picture - and these pictures will be in Mr. Sail's bookshelf. He can't ask everyone to bring it in - but we can!
Anyway, that's his idea. I think it's brilliant and hilarious, as expected from Veno.
From Justin Veno himself:
ReplyDelete"IMAGINE A BOOKCASE JUST FULL OF LIKE 30 BABY PICTURES"
I agree with james about the cheerleader, i feel to often cheerleaders are just always shown in their uniforms to identify them and it would be cool to try it makeup and cheerleaderish clothes. I really liked the zombie dream today, and will macomb was very funny.Dillon and I will figure out our ending scene with Jimmy and Seeman during a free period tommorrow. It will be fine. I also think that actors aren't making good use of the space available to them and that they need to spread out and stop getting in the view of the audience of one another and upstaging. I think the headmaster scene had a problem with blocking, and in the phycologist scene Jimmy could have been weirder and moved around more vivaciously and quicker too. Besides that all was good.
ReplyDeleteYea i agree makeup and hair will do the trick but i was wondering if i can add like black netting with a few stiches (easy to remove after) or whether I'm not allowed to touch them at all as in like an authoritative question because i was gonna use it no matter what lol
ReplyDeleteBABY PICTURES...ALL FOR IT!
Lena-I could also order you a green cheerleader costume that you could destroy. I think Ms. Bruno would rather keep the blue ones intact, since they are a set. Ask Ms. Uzmack or Coleman to help you scan in the drawing.
ReplyDeleteSomeone, not Charles-Needs to fix what is wrong with the Headmaster scene. I guess it should be Dillon, however, he is nowhere to be found. Anyone else want to give it a shot?
Who wants to be the DOD tomorrow? I nominate Xander.
It is now time to realize that you are all working on ONE SHOW. The time to concentrate only on your own scenes is OVER. Or as Lucy would say, OVAH. The DOD will speak for all of you. If you see something that needs tweaking, tell the DOD to pass it on. If you see a way of fixing blocking that is closed up, say something! Don't hold back. It's your show. One big show. Use all your brains together to make it work. You are all going to see different things, and that's the beauty of this.
Also, we used to have a collection of body parts, arms, legs, etc. in the other dressing room, James -- if you are interested.
ReplyDeleteOkay- my only question would be money if we were to order a cheerleader costume. my other idea is to keep the cheerleader costume intact and just work around it with hair and makeup...and awesome ill do that during third period and print out a sample tshirt design for everyone to look at during rehearsal.
ReplyDeleteidk how coleman feels, but I don't think tech was as productive as it was on Thursday. Maybe its just because on thursday there were only 8 people and everyone was working and today there was 12 and there was always someone sitting around. However, tomorrow were hopping to step it into high gear, because Harding wants the set done by Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteAlso Mr. D & Moore have said that many changes have occurred in the script. Those changes do us no good if only you (directors) have written them down. Please make everyone lives easier come tech week and send me/or who ever is fixing the master script, the newest version of your script immediately. Copies of the newest script need to be made and distributed to tech and everyone else.
the set will be done by wednesday. details done by friday.
ReplyDelete-thats final we really dont have time to screw around,we got to get done. We have other things to do.
-longer days/night may be needed to achieve this but im definitely willing
I do like Veno's idea we discussed it earlier. i think it should be just directors or just a few people because to many pictures would be overwhelming. how about we do it in picture frames threw out the set rather than just the bookcase. just a thought.
Sadat and Xander- please keep in touch with me about sound a track list would be nice just what your thinking. i would love to get a jump on mixing this show early so that a real sound design can possibly be done. bottom line i need a track list and markings in the scrip where u guys think things should go.
every one check your email pible sent out a survey.
EVERY ONE KEEP A EYE OUT FOR JUNK ON THE ROAD let some one know about its location and what not if its to big for u to get.
-toilets would be sweet
-nice desks
-any thing u think may be at all useful pull over give it a look and give me or pible a call(my number: 267 934 3111)
Today was fantastic and being the DOD I think was a good experience for me. I think everyone worked well together and this whole DOD was a great idea (thanks Houston). I don't really have much else to say except for thank you to everyone for being kind to me today and be diplomatic and trusting me with a good amount of power. Mr. Moore and Mr. D need to be separated in the near future because at times well...they cause mayhem.
ReplyDeleteAll in All, good day.
I think we need to remind the actors more about freezing on stage because I saw a lot of people talking and relaxing on stage while other scenes going on. And we were a little bit out of time today and didn't change all the mistakes and stuff. But overall it was a good start. For Xander's part, we will just cut it because it really is not that necessary. But the thing is the part when Don screams when he sees Xander and Jenny reply him, we need to make a little change for that or something.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually posting on the blog. This is weird and unusual. Anyway, it seems like everything is coming along great after reading all of last weeks posts. I'll make sure to make changes to what ever is wrong with the blocking in Charles' scene. I think it will be easier to see imagine blocking during the full run-throughs we're doing now because you can actually sit back in the audience's stand-point and not worry about being distracted by another scene.
ReplyDeleteWe will/must (be) starting a master script today.
ReplyDeleteAlso, punctuation explanation:
!= awesome job
!?!= nice job sometimes questionable
?= what are you thinking? you should lay low for a while
?!?= you had moments of triumph surrounded by overall "eh"
?!!= you started off slow, but did well in the end
!!?= you let us all down in the end
Well, in that case, I'd like to add two more:
ReplyDelete!!! = I am constantly amazed at the things you do. (Positive connotation.)
??? = I am constantly amazed at the things you do. (Negative connotation)
