-Professinalism is going to be key for next week. We all need to set the tone and be good examples for the actors. Today was not very good and we all let Friday get the best of us. Next week I expect a lot better.

If there are props that need to be purchased, I am more than willing to do that. If you purchase something yourself, please save the receipts.
ReplyDeleteAudio is happening. Xander and Sadat have made a lot of progress on that.
Mr. Moore is right. I taught him everything he knows, so how could he lead you astray? He's basically a giant, blonde, male version of me.
If you don't model the behavior you want from your actors, they will not deliver for you. It's a delicate balance. You can find it in you to buckle down and set an example.
Today was not the best practice we have had by a long shot. In all serious and I have no intention of being rude, but telling the actors Evonne was DOD and then having Sadat say a lot of the holds and notes did not help actors keep focus. That's just the honest theory, though I know it is a bit of a taboo.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on the set: if you read this Dillon you should know that the air vent worked out, although it took one sofa fall to get it right. Nobody tell Ms. Hall. Sets look great and I love the portrait in my office. Coleman says he has another one for me that he thinks I will like.
We have a potential snag with filming on Monday. Jimmy H. and Curtis are CTC, but Lena has no makeup ideas for them. I have an idea though. Final shot should be Jimmy and Curtis running, cut off by CTC and they turn to find more behind them. They hold each other and look really scared. How does that sound everyone? When we get back though Zander and Dillon need to find out what is up with these two in the way of costume and makeup.
Have a good weekend all.

P.S. What do you think of my profile picture?

ReplyDeleteToday was kinda productive...
ReplyDeleteI got the recording done but it was WAY too fast haha i guess i just remember things at a faster speed...Whoops! So I'll just record it again no biggie.
Costumes was better than i expected since i expected nothing to happen really but people showed some sort of cooperation and brought in stuff although not enough people... I told them Monday or else.
Also what is this about adding Jimmy and Curtis, can someone explain?
i understand that they need to be included more and i'm all for that but don't spring that on me the three days before filming haha so i don't know what to do with that...
Other than that... i didn't really hear anything that went on with the actual rehearsal today, James's song makes me roar out loud with laughter every time i hear it!!!!
I will have some serious think-tank-ness going on this weekend with the makeup aspect and come back monday hopefully prepared and ready to go...

ReplyDeleteI know I did not did a good job today and people were just relaxing because it is friday. It was really frustrated and sad. I will try to be a better director next time hopefully and thank you sadat for helping me. I am really sorry. Sometimes I have thoughts I just don't know how to express thats why I ask for a co-director.
ReplyDeleteAnd charles I don't know what to say to your comment....
Mr. Moore you are my captain steer my ship to safety!! Sorry i didnt get on last night i fell asleep as soon as i got home freaking hopewell turned out to be more of a match then i thought took 2 and a half hours but i got it done...as to the play Evonne is the best and if anyone ever tries to go at her its totally not cool cause she has the best ideas and is so creative and frankly keeps are entire class sane so to Evonne I GOT YOUR BACK!!! fridays i would imagine are always the worst anyway...i am happy to say that the posters are a go for monday DOES ANYONE WANT TO HELP PUT THEM UP PLEASE!?!?!?
ReplyDeletethree things that I think are worth mentioning here:
ReplyDelete1. Loose ends - because of all of you are so creative and have put so much time into this, changes are being made daily. whether that is good or bad is not what i'm addressing but rather the lack of communcation surrounding changes. keep in mind that when you change someting in a scene, more than just the actors need to be informed. example, adding curtis and jimmy into the end without letting our costume and makeup know that they now have to dress and create 2 more zombies is unacceptable. that places much more work on them. i guess what i am saying here is to COMMUNICATE! actors are not the only ones who should be writing things down. this applies to props, sounds, blocking, lighting, etc.
two: i'm expecting an attitude of professionalism on Monday through the close of the show. Mr Moore and I both recognize that this isn't Broadway - we too also like to laugh and have fun, however we all need to step it up BIG TIME. I suggest that you set up two tables with chairs like we used at the auditions and ALL of you sit and watch the entirety of the rehearsal. stay focused, limit conversations to play-related topics. communicate through the DOD. your efforts will pay off on the 23rd and 24th.
third, some of the language being used in this blog is very inappropraite. keep in mind this is not your personal facebook page, this is a TPS sanctioned educational tool for your class. Violations of the student code of conduct will be addressed and handled accordingly.
What concerns me is that the roles for Jimmy and Curtis were in Draft A. They weren't added in this month, they were put in last YEAR. I think communication needs to be a whole lot better.
ReplyDeletei dont like funneling ideas through the DOD, i think that it would be better to have the DOD just hold or resume the play, but have the individual directors give the notes on their scenes
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Xander. I think a lot of times things can get lost in translation or just take too long to be explained. It might be more efficient if the director requests that the DOD holds, in private, and then takes over once the DOD calls "Hold".
ReplyDelete1st off croghan followed through and got us toilets. In respect to Friday, it was clear that the actors weren't interested in working. Back stage after they went through the air duct, they were all just running their mouthes. I think the DOD idea has its ups and downs.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't seem like Friday's practice went all that well. I would also have to agree that funneling the ideas through the DOD wouldn't work as well than directors giving individual notes. Curtis and Jimmy just need to be dressed as jocks with limited CTC make-up. They shouldn't be as detailed as the real CTC because they are just students dressing up, so make sure that it's rather obvious they aren't real CTC.
