Things are starting to come along better.

Awesome=Dillon and Xander (Dander) for pulling out the couch.

James: nicely done with using your time wisely. I am excited to see it all put together.

Sadat: nice control of your actors. Do you think that giving a break to your actors is helpful? (Maybe other directors would like to hear your input.)

Colonne (Coleman and Yvonne)
Chollo (solo Charles)
Lames (James and Lena)
Padat (Pibl and Sadat)
Austin

Note: each scene only have 3 rehearsals in the black box before we start running the show.

  1. It is very refreshing on a day like today when I am questioning my very existence to get on here and see that not only were there no crises to report, but that it was actually a very productive rehearsal. Well done.

  2. Controversial statement of the day:
How much funnier would Sibl be than Padat?

Today's practice went really well. Xander and I are able to actually provide quick details to our actors while giving blocking which is something different than I did yesterday with Charles's scenes where I just gave blocking. I think that together our heads create the craziest things which is why I love being able to run a practice with Xander because we've already developed the characters of our scene just with our blocking (for instance, Jai now becomes Zylox's unofficial sidekick).

  3. I agree with dil, I think me and him work really well together, and we were able to get so much done today. We fully blocked about 3/4s of our scenes, while missing a few actors, and the notes and changes we made today really transformed our scenes into something awesome. We now have Hank lim humming the starwars theme song during the final part of Jimmy's confession, its pretty ridiculous.

  4. Well, today was interesting for me. Having to lead the group was definetley an experience for me since I hadn't expected to do so. I wouldn't say I did a great job, but I didn't do badly either. We worked on characterizations since blocking is much tougher in the Art Room. This went really well. We filled out and shared character sheets and then shared them with each other. We then played Bus Stop to actually get into character and I tink Sasha got TO into character, keep an eye out Dillon. I wish Hope had been there so we could have informed Sasha more about their relationship so my plans there were dashed. The thing was when we ran out of things to do and that is when I struggeld a bit. Lena saved me with those measurements and I'm sorry that they all came down at once.

Notes for Dillon: I would suggest that we run through the script and then play a game and then run through one more time. This would be the best way to manage time and stop people getting bored. Blocking should be the priority in the BB though. Perhaps next time we are in the gallery we should try to start getting the right emotions into Ellie's and Alex's monologues. Again, I leave the choice to you and Xander, these are just my thoughts.

Everything seems to have gone well and Evonne (Not Yvonne Mr. Moore)seemed to get a lot done with Don there so it looks like everything went smoothly across the entire front.

Conclusion: The arch enemy of the Play is not the actors, it's after School Lab.

  5. I think today was awesome because i actually got all of my actors together and Coleman was there for the blocking. I really appreciate that. I talked to Don about Oliver as a character and his relationship with Jenny. I really hope they can make it clear that this is an "awkward" love scene. Don did a good job for the awkward pause. And I was glad that we had a chance to rehearse in the black box for blocking today. Thank you Sadat!!!!

Joe was a lot better today. He asked me to add a few words in his line and I agreed him to do so because I thought he had some thoughts for his character and it actually did make sense. But he actually said that he should be in the tech crew and he doesn't know why he came and act which makes me a little upset.

Mr. Moore I am Evonne with the "E"!! And James please send me or Coleman the love song so Jenny and Oliver could have an idea.

  6. Evonne-Lena can play the love song music on the piano in the BBox for them. She wrote the music for that one.

  9. I hope everyone is excited for the craziest CTC dance you've ever seen. It pays homage to my two greatest influences: West Side Story and Thriller.

I think my group had some fun today. We did some more character work, and then I jumped right into choreographing. It's fun to see people outside of their comfort zones, having to act crazy; it's more fun to see people IN their comfort zones, acting crazy (Jake Bullick). It's so much fun to be working with these crazy creatures. I hope that we can work on seamless transitions in the dance. They all have the steps (which, because I choreogrpahed it, are very simple), we just need to work on getting things to flow more smoothly.

Fun rehearsal. I was sweating so bad... and my hair looked crazy by the end (much to the enjoyment of Mr. D and Moore).

  12. Things went great today for me. I really don't have much to say other than that and I think giving my actors, at least when they go through the whole scene a break. However, what concerned was when I tried to call my actors back from a break, it was quite difficult and I think I need to set boundaries as to how far they can go because at one point I literally I had no freaking clue where half my cast was and a 5 minute break turned into about a 15 minute which I wasn't too happy about. I had to yell a bit, but not really but basically I feel when I say 5 minutes, people need to be back in 5 minutes. Also, working outside seemed to help my actors and gave them a bit of an incentive to work, which I was also quite pleased about it. When they came back from a break, everyone help Will develop his character which I thought was awesome because he was struggling with it. He now has a direction and I think the result will be great.

  13. Charles, comments and biographies are two different things.

Yvonne, it is a French name.

  14. Tech keeps getting bigger everyday and it needs to be addressed. We have 16 people and I think, and Coleman might agree, that the work to people ratio is ridiculous. Its like a union job, for every person working at least two other people watching. We've tried to get everyone involved in something in the past few days, but there just isn't enough for 16 people to do.

Cuts in my opinion are definitely going to have to be made, but I think we need to make them sooner than tech week. coleman and i are handing over the tech, and there are people on tech that are dedicated to drama and they are not getting the most out of learning that could be done. An example is Testa, she is ecstatic to be able to do tech and a lot of the stuff is new to her, but we can't possibly have her master a skill if she only gets to put 3 screws in per day because 15 other kids also need to work.

Also got to stop and check with Sadat and he is going a solid job with the bathroom, and was quite impressed at the progress.

  15. Mr. Moore your comments are priceless.

today working with actors went well i feel as though both jenny and oliver are making strides to finding there characters. the okwardness i feel will come with some more time. i love how don is finding the frazzled worriedness of olivers. steph is getting the idea of who jenny is alot more. joe D did have a good idea today for his character i want to see him run with it, and see what happens, because his character can go any where.

tech wise i think we just need to figure out what to do with all 16 of them. and thanks for douting us on the flats fitting out the door.
